Concrete, masonry, steel – all of the different materials used in construction - are in a constant state of movement and change relative to the environments to which they are exposed. The joining of these different materials to form a building or structure creates the need for expansion and control joints between similar and dissimilar materials to allow for movement to occur without damage. Materials used to seal a building’s joinery and exterior skin require maintenance to keep rain and the elements outside, away from the building’s occupants. As with any maintenance, exterior building maintenance, left unattended or deferred, will increase the cost of future repairs and the possibility of structural damage.

To help building owners protect their investments, Engineered Restorations, Inc. offers a wide range of proven service solutions for the restoration, waterproofing, and weatherproofing of commercial building exteriors and parking decks.

Epoxy Pressure Injection, Cementitious Grouting, Specialized Concrete Placement

Numerous wrecks into the concrete crash wall of turn number 3 at the Atlanta Motor Speedway had caused cracks and spalling. Rainwater was entering the cracks, compounding damage by freeze/thaw cycles. AMS personnel deemed the wall section too dangerous in its current state for an upcoming NASCAR race. Another concern was that a new “Safewall” system was due to be installed after the race. In its deteriorated condition, the wall section could not accommodate the Safewall anchorages and attachments. ERI devised a repair method consisting of low viscosity epoxy injection and high strength polymer modified mortar. Engineered Restorations, Inc. completed the repair in only three days, which provided a two day window prior to race-day, much to the relief of AMS personnel.
